Lisk Feng originally from China and New York freelance illustrator introduces us to the playful, dreamy world of colour.
Obviously if you have read my blog posts you will know I am a big fun of colour and I like to analyze the way some artists use it. When I read comments about her work I must say that I agree that her illustrations are warm and inviting. Also have slightly surreal narrative to it. You can see that she fills in all of the pages with details and there is literally no white spaces.
Feng explains how she reached the point in her career how when she does commission she squeezes her ideas of the article into the picture not the other way round. I think all of us want to get to that point when they don’t want to limit their imagination and skills. I liked her honesty as well when she talked how all the hard work affected her health due to stress and lack of sleep. For me personally health comes first as I know what it is like when health issues can affect all parts of your life.
What amazes me is the skill making digital drawings. Still it involves a lot of sketching before you get to that point. I think I haven’t sadly reach that point yet when I experiment to the point I reach what I am happy with or try to exhaust the options. That is something that I never had any experience and practice with so it still feels like something I need to overcome. I know some may wonder what is it so tricky about it but it might be me just overthinking things.
Here is just some of her impressive work:
