As a part of our last project for Creative Industry Practice we were asked to create a 30 seconds video to communicate specific message in relations to the events over Easter. My message is simple: Easter commercialism. Who still remembers why we celebrate Easter? To spend money on loads of hollow overpriced chocolate eggs?
I have done research on how much money spend on Easter eggs, how big brands use Easter festive period to promote their products and make consumers spend more money and what marketing tricks they are using.
I have presented my research and response in series of digital moving images and through a character I created: Greedy Bunny.
I have drawn a bunny using Photoshop and in After Effects I used the eyes from my previous animation to give him life. I have also spend hours trying to make the 2D image turn as 3D image but that’s as far as I got due to lack of time.
The voice over I have used was my voice which I have amended slightly using Adobe Audition. Audio still remain something that I want to learn more about.
What is tricky about creating moving image is that a scene that last few seconds can take hours. My challenge was to create a moving spotlight for the final scene.
I had to download external plug ins as I have learn that After Effects doesn’t necessarily have all the features.
I have also created a logo for Greedy Bunny Productions by editing Bunny’s picture into a dollar bill
Here you can watch the outcome. Enjoy!!!
Once again I have really enjoyed working with Premiere and After Effects and gained new skills and also improved from what I have learnt from previous animations. Each creation have different type of challenges. This one in particular involved a lot of synchronisations like for instance pumping an egg and moving pump at the same time or opening doors as the bunny comes out.
I have also recently learnt that mixing drawing and real life situations in photographs is my kind of thing. And animating the drawings is the next step for me to improve but hey Rome wasn’t built in a day.
